The word “Thank you” sounds the same in Slovak and Ukrainian
Volunteers of the Ukraine-Slovakia SOS coordination center met with the President of Slovakia, Zuzana Čaputová.
We spoke sincerely and humanely about how aid is collected here in Slovakia, how and to whom it is given in Ukraine, and how much support we feel from the Slovak state and ordinary people. Among us were also volunteer refugees – women who, from the first days of their arrival in Slovakia, immediately began to help others.
It is important that they were able to tell the President directly about themselves, their families, about their new life in their new home – in Slovakia.
Refugee volunteerism simply and clearly demonstrates that Ukrainians were, are, and will continue to be active and equal members of Slovak society. And just grateful people who want and can benefit those who sheltered them so sincerely and humanely. SME SPOLU!
