Protection of human rights of internally displaced persons: the problems revealed in the practice

The experts of the National Academy of the Legal Sciences of Ukraine Viktor Smorodinsky, Alexander Sidelnikov, Antonina Bobkova, Irina Koval visited Luhansk and Donetsk regions (Kramatorsk, Slavyansk, Severodonetsk, Makeevka, Starobelsk), where they met the internally displaced persons, representatives of the centers of free legal aid, NGOs, which provide assistance to IPDs, representatives of local bodies and governmental institutions in order to find out what barriers (legal, social, economic) the internally displaced persons mostly encounter in present day practice exercising their rights and which problems are the most urgent. The student volunteers from the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University also attended the events. The volunteer group is coordinated by Olga Storozhenko and Zlata Bush.

The research is being conducted within the frame of the Project “Rights of refugees and internally displaced persons: the best European practices and ways of their implementation”, which is coordinated in association with the partners from the Slovak Republic SME SPOLU and with financial support of Slovak agency for international development cooperation (SAMRS).

The results of the survey will be summarized and made public.
