On September 14-15, 2018 the coordinators of the Project “The rights of refugees and internally displaced persons: the best European practices and ways of their implementation”: The National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine in cooperation with the Slovak NGO SME SPOLU and SlovakAid conducted a round-table discussion.
The main goal of the discussion was to introduce to participants the scientific and practical recommendations of the Slovak experts who have great experience of launching similar international projects.
The round-table table discussion was attended by the representatives of the executive bodies and local municipals, centers of free legal aid, legal offices, public activists, scholars, lawyers and judges, 60 visitors overall.
Special attention was drawn to the following issues:
- Integration of IDP’s and protection of their rights. The corresponding recommendations were prepared by the Project expert JUDr. Miroslava Vozáryová, (PhD., Comenius University in Bratislava, Faculty of Law);
- Response to economic and social rights of asylum seekers in European asylum acquis as possible inspiration for set up of those rights of internally displaced people in Ukraine, JUDr. Nataša Just Hrnčárová (PhD., the Slovak national expert on asylum seekers in TAIEX expert group);
- Access to rights and justice in the Slovak Republic. Best practices and their implementation in area of antidiscrimination, registration of residence, and access to free legal aid. This part was prepared by Barbora Meššová (Mgr., Senior lawyer, The Human Rights League).
Moreover, on September, 17, 2018, the recommendations were introduced to the community. In particular, some publications were submitted to local municipalities as well as to NGO’s which are involved in the issues of IDP’s for the further everyday use.
