Humanitarian aid

Humanitarian aid

Starting from February 24 2022 Ukraine-Slovakia SOS/SME SPOLU sent 22 trucks with humanitarian aid (20 tons each) from Slovakia to Ukraine. It was transmitted to 18 regions of Ukraine, among which were Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Sievierodonetsk, Lysychansk, Okhtyrka and other regions and frontline zones. All this activity – including administrative and logistic aspects of it – is carried out on a voluntary basis.

Humanitarian aid to orphanages in Ukraine

„Ukraine-Slovakia SOS” / SME SPOLU is providing humanitarian assistance to two orphanages in Ukraine:

  • Luhansk orphanage No. 2, temporarily evacuated from the occupied territory to the city of Severodonetsk,
  • St. Nicholas’ City of Mercy for orphans and children from socially disadvantaged families in Ivano-Frankivsk.

Our long-term volunteers collected and delivered to children baby food, sanitary materials, clothes, shoes and toys. In 2016 has “Ukraine-Slovakia SOS” received 25 000 € for the project “Assistance to orphanages in Ukraine” from the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic.

This project provides funds for the purchase of toiletries for babies, furniture for playground, tiles and materials to repair the bathroom in orphanages.

Last Christmas volunteers of “Ukraine-Slovakia SOS” / SME SPOLU organized the action “Box of joy”

Every child from a foster home St. Nicholas’ City of Mercy (Ivano-Frankivsk) had an opportunity to write a letter to St. Nicholas in Bratislava and ask him for a dream gift. Volunteers of “Ukraine-Slovakia SOS” prepared a “box of joy” with a gift for every child. Moreover, each child received stationery, toiletries and sweets. In return, the kids from the orphanage welcomed volunteers with the festive concert.
